Koi ponds
Deep enough for koi to thrive, with a skimmer and a BioFalls® filter doing the work of keeping the water clear.
Water gardens
Lilies, marginal plants and a few fish: a pond that’s as much garden as it is water.
Pondless® waterfalls
All the sound of a waterfall with no open pond. The water recirculates from a hidden basin under the rocks: safer around kids, and less upkeep.
Streams
A stream that winds through the yard and spills into a pond, or disappears into the rocks.
Fountains & urns
Bubbling stacked-slate urns and fountains bring the sound of water to a patio or a small yard.
Lighting
Underwater and landscape LEDs on a photocell timer, so the pond lights itself up at dusk.

Skimmer
Pulls leaves and debris off the surface before they sink and rot, and hides the pump out of sight.

Pump
Lives in the skimmer and pushes water back up to the waterfall through buried pipe.

BioFalls filter
Sits at the top of the waterfall. Filter mats grow the good bacteria that eat fish waste and starve algae.

Splashes oxygen into the water. Fish love it, mosquitoes hate it, and it's the sound you'll hear from the patio.

Cover the liner, protect it from the sun, and give beneficial bacteria acres of surface to live on.

- Design & layoutWe mark the shape on the ground and walk it with you before anything is dug.
- Dig, liner & plumbingExcavation, underlayment, 45 mil EPDM liner, skimmer, pump and filter.
- Rock, plants & waterThe rockwork goes in by hand, then the plants, then the water starts flowing.
- Fine-tuningA return visit to adjust rocks and flow until it looks and sounds right.
Repairs & rebuilds
Already have a pond that’s let you down?
We repair and rebuild existing ponds and waterfalls too: leaks, weak falls, green water, collapsed edges. This one went from a muddy hole with a hose in it to a clear pond with a stream.

Good questions we hear a lot
How long does it take to build a pond?
It depends on the size. For one backyard waterfall it was about three days: a day to prepare and lay out the site, a day to get the water flowing, and a quick return visit for fine-tuning. You’ll get a timeline with your quote.
What is a Pondless® waterfall?
A waterfall and stream with no open pond at the bottom. The water drains into a basin filled with AquaBlox® or a vault under the rocks, and the pump sends it back to the top. You get the sound and movement of water with less maintenance and no open water to worry about.
Will my pond turn green?
An ecosystem pond (skimmer, biological filter, rocks, plants and fish working together) stays far clearer than a bare liner with a pump. A little algae in spring is normal; beneficial bacteria and regular maintenance keep it in check.
Can you fix a pond someone else built?
Yes. We repair, clean out and rebuild existing ponds and waterfalls.

Can I buy the parts and do it myself?
Yes. Our shop carries the Aquascape pumps, skimmers, filters, liner and water care products we install, with USPS shipping or local pickup in Reno. Call us with questions before you buy.
